Madeleine has worked professionally in book publicity, communications, and graphic design for over a decade. She has worked for Press Shop PR, one of Brooklyn’s top book publicity firms, as well as the website hosting and building company, Squarespace, Inc. in New York City. She currently serves as Creative Communications Specialist at the Center for the Humanities at the CUNY Graduate Center.
She has designed numerous personal and professional websites for artists, authors, and academics, and she works on numerous freelance commissions, including custom hand embroideries, illustration, event photography, photo editing, transcription, and graphic design. Her interests have led her to complete specialized training courses at UVA’s Rare Book School, the Center for Book Arts, and the Royal School of Needlework.
Her dissertation research on Louise Bourgeois and contemporary textile art, supervised by Wayne Koestenbaum, informs her perspective on communications and design; she enjoys thinking deeply about how ideas are expressed, circulated, and archived across analog and digital mediums. She collaborates with clients and vendors to create unique, memorable materials and events. Her training continually grounds her art and writing practices in centuries of textile history and labor history.
