Madeleine Barnes is a writer and visual artist from Pittsburgh, PA. She is the author of the chapbook The Mark My Body Draws in Light, and her poems have appeared in places like Pleiades, Pittsburgh Poetry Review, The Scores, Cordella Magazine, YEW Journal, Jai-Alai Magazine, The Rattling Wall (by Narrow Books), Oakland Review, and other places.
She is the recipient of a John Woods Scholarship to study poetry in the Czech Republic, a New York State Summer Writers Institute Fellowship, an Academy of American Poets Poetry Prize, the Gertude Gordon Journalism Prize, and numerous design awards. Her artwork has appeared in the PhilaMOCA Gallery in Philadelphia, PA, The Miller Gallery in Pittsburgh, PA, WORK Gallery in Brooklyn, NY, in the Dead Rabbits poetry series, and on the covers of Washington Square Review and Cimarron Review. She earned her BHA from Carnegie Mellon University, M.Phil from Trinity College Dublin, and MFA in creative writing from NYU.
She lives in Brooklyn with a strapping Australian named Bryn and co-curates the Lunar Walk Poetry Series.
